On this blog, you will find ideas, tools and principles for designing more effective organizations.
It’s intended for leaders – and for those who help leaders in this process.

I am now a professor at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences outside Oslo. I am also co-founder of Reconfig, which developed the world’s first organization design software that utilizes Artificial Intelligence.
I joined academia after 18 years as a management consultant. As a consultant, I advised several large and leading companies, and I have led or participated in more than 30 organization re-design projects.
I also also had a normal “employee” job for 3 years in a large engineering firm.
I have observed a lot of poorly planned and poorly implemented organizational changes. I have felt the personal consequences of reorganizations and cost-cutting.
But I have also observed the amazing power of organization design, when done right.
This is what motivates me to keep focusing on this topic – and to write about it.
I am the author of a book published by Routledge. I have also published a number of articles, including three articles in highly ranked academic journals.
I hold a master’s degree in psychology from McGill University and received a PhD in management studies from Oxford University’s Said Business School in 2003.
On a personal note, I am married to Maria Dolores and we have five children between the age of 8 and 20. We live in Oslo. In my free time, I enjoy outdoor activities with the family, such as skiing, open water swimming, sailing and mountain biking.
My goal with this blog is to provide practical yet research based advice. Let me know if there’s a particular issue you are interested in, and I will try to cover it (use my contact form to get in touch).
