During the next few months, I will conduct a study about the alignment between strategy and organizational structure.
A key goal will be to develop and test a new analytical tool to better understand misalignment and how it can be minimized.

I will select five firms/institutions from the requests that I receive.
What it entails:
You will participate in 1-2 interviews via Zoom where we discuss your firm/institution, its strategy or business model, its organization, as well as the status of the strategy implementation process.
One or two weeks after the interview, you will be asked to provide feedback on a draft description of your organization.
If it is of mutual interest, we may also agree to a second round with more extensive data collection.
Ideal profile:
- You represent a firm or institution that has changed its strategy and/or introduced a new business model during the last 1-3 years
- You have not yet made any major formal changes to the organizational structure
- You assume that formal changes may be needed in future in order to fully implement the strategy
- You are willing to share information about your opportunities and challenges (but of course, your identity and that of your firm/institution will not be revealed to anybody else)
- You may be located anywhere and be in any industry sector, or in a governmental entity or NGO
Benefits from participating:
- You will participate in developing new knowledge related to organization design
- You will receive a case study and/or summary of the results, with comparisons to other firms/institutions that are in a similar situation
- You will be able to see the application of analytical tools to assess the degree of strategy-structure alignment and receive tips on how to use it internally in your organization
- There is no financial cost related to participating in this project
About my background:
I am currently a professor at a business school in Norway and a former management consultant. I am also co-founder of Reconfig, a firm that develops organization design software.
I have been interested in this topic for many years (below, you can see a younger version of me in a video where I recount the main results of a previous study on a similar topic).
